Woahhh” you’re probably saying…Yes, yes, I’m doing a crazy thing. OR perhaps it’s a wildly brilliant thing, haha.

Since I became an entrepreneur over a decade ago, setting up personal challenges has been my jam. There was something about going to work for myself that gave me the audacity to truly step into my competitive nature; and who best to defeat than myself?

I’ve overcome debilitating habits and experienced some life-changing outcomes along the way.

A less extreme example was creating a daily morning routine. I call it my “getting fit for public consumption” routine, haha. As someone who wakes up slow and dreams intensely, I need dedicated time in the morning to recenter myself so that I can be my best self. Anyone who lives with me WANTS me to have this time.

A more extreme example was joining a 90-day No Drinking Challenge with friends that turned into a full year of sobriety. It blew the lid off of who I thought I was and what I thought about the world around me. It’s a year I’ll never forget. (I shared several blogs about it on Medium if you want to know more.)

But I haven’t done anything huge since 2019. I had some goals for 2020 that were swiftly kicked out the door when we went into lockdown. And I was so jaded from having all my plans demolished in 2020 that I only created first-quarter goals in 2021. Ya, those never happened! 2021 has been so dynamic that they weren’t even relevant by the end of the first quarter.

Mind you, 2021 has also been a 7 Personal Year for me (Numerology nerd here!) and that landed my plane. Seven Personal Years are NOT for starting things. I’ve experienced two now (since I started paying attention) and they are intense, internal, and require much alone time.

(If you’re interested in discovering what kind of year you’ll be experiencing, I highly recommend checking out Felicia Bender’s Personal Year reports before planning the year.)

All this to say — I am ready for something big in 2022! It feels good. It feels right. And before I had fully connected with the idea that it was time to set a big challenge, the idea of completing 365 days of yoga came flooding through my senses.

See, many years ago, my metaphysical awakening began when I started doing yoga. My body was ravaged from an auto-immune disease and I was so weak that besides walking, Gentle Yoga was my only option for exercise.

I fell in love hard and fast, went nearly everyday, and constantly practiced outside of class. While I loved the atmosphere, the people, and the philosophies, what I really fell in love with was connecting with my body. It was the first time I had ever experienced it even though I was an athlete and professional dancer in my younger years.

But over time, yoga took up less and less space in my schedule as I took on challenges like training for a half marathon or weight training. There are only so many hours in the day! But my heart longed for yoga.

Towards the latter part of this year, I began starting my daily exercise hour with 20 minutes of yoga and then adding on whatever else I wanted to focus on for the day.

The first week was kinda rough but by the time the second week had begun, I started experiencing those yoga highs. My body began feeling long and limber again. I regained my love of slower movement. I had those “yoga drunk” moments post-workout. And I was once again starting to reconnect with my body.

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with my body. My father is Spanish, my mother is German, and I’ve had hips since I was five years old, much to the chagrin of my mother. I won’t go into specifics here, but I was always told my body wasn’t good enough in some way — whether too sexual or too curvy — it was wrong. I was given the clear message that I needed to be model thin to be beautiful and safe. And that has stayed with me for the majority of my life.

The practice of yoga had started to build a beautiful relationship between my body and myself, but I hadn’t fully stepped into it.

But it’s time. Embodiment is something I began prioritizing in 2021 and while I’ve come a long way, there’s more to go.

Why embodiment?

Because the body is the most powerful tool we’ve been given and to not be connected to it, is to miss out on all its great wisdom. It’s difficult to be grounded without embodiment. It’s hard to connect with our inner guidance without embodiment. And it’s nearly impossible to step into Who We Are without embodiment.

Then all the pieces came together after channeling the 2022 Akashic Record Forecast for my podcast (coming to Medium on 12/29 — can’t WAIT to share!). As the 2022 theme primarily centers around the relationship with ourselves, it became abundantly clear that I needed to do something HUGE to put embodiment at the very top of my priority list.

As the quote for my podcast says, “When we invest in ourselves, the world benefits” and I’m ready to do my part. It’s time to fall in love with myself and I want to invite anyone who feels called to join me for 365 days of yoga!

Here are the details:

  1. Kickoff Day! This challenge will kick off on January 1, 2022, but if you come to this later — join us anyway! This is a personal journey and the best time to start is NOW — whenever that is for you. However, kickoff is 1/1/22 (a 4 day is a great day!).
  2. Rules. The only rule is to create your own rules ahead of time! My rule for what constitutes “doing yoga everyday” is to dedicate a minimum of 15 minutes per day to yoga. I also have other fitness goals and hey, a life, haha. It might not sound like a lot, but a little can go a LONG way. Just ask James Clear. I set an amount that felt realistic to me not knowing what might come up with traveling or anything else. Plus, 1+5=6 and 2022 is a 6 year (more numerology nerdisms, heh). Set your own specifics — even 5 minutes a day works! Or start extra small and work your way up. There’s no wrong way to do this.
  3. Do something EPIC together. While I don’t need accountability to complete a challenge — life is soo much sweeter when we do things together. It would be AWESOME to do this with YOU! I’m an “all about community” type of gal and because 2022 is centered on relationships (accordingly to the Akashic Records), it only felt right to invite you to join me! I’ve created a private Telegram messaging group (aka NOT on social media) where we can share photos, wins, difficulties, and more together. Message me on Medium, comment below, or shoot me an email from my website if you want to join.

I’m intentionally posting this blog about 10 days from Kickoff Day so there’s time to consider joining me. But if it resonates with you, let’s do it! I’ll be also sharing this challenge on my podcast, newsletter, and social channels so we’ll see who shows up.

Either way, I’ll be there READY to make 2022 the Year of Embodiment!
