When Your Intuition Says No — Listen.

In 2012, when I first started my first business, a marketing agency, I promised myself that no matter how much I needed the money or how awesome the client was, if it didn’t feel aligned, I wouldn’t take them on.

I decided that no amount of money would make me feel good enough about working with someone I didn’t like or didn’t feel aligned with.

And it served me greatly for many years. It helped me make easy decisions about who to work with, which was super useful as a female business owner. I had several men who tried to intimidate me about my pricing or question the integrity of my services. And while I never had issues proving credibility, intuitively, I knew that if there were underlying energies of distrust - it simply wouldn’t be a good fit.

In 2017, my first big error was made in the midst of creating my second business, a retail lifestyle brand that was focused on redesigning the way women experienced swimwear.

It was pre-launch and all the designs were created and ready to go, but we still couldn’t find a patternmaker. After numerous interviews, my designer picked one that I didn’t feel right about, but the clock was ticking. We had an upcoming launch party, needed suits, and I thought, “Sure, why not?

It was a mistake that cost me thousands of dollars and haunted the entire business until the day I closed it down.

Fast forward to 2020 when Pluto began a transit through my astrology chart and started tearing my world falling apart.

I wasn’t landing marketing clients as easily as I always had. I wasn’t meeting people who felt aligned for my agency. And I ended up signing a few clients even though my intuition told me it wasn’t a good idea. I made those decisions out of fear. Fear of what the pandemic might bring.

Fear because it was becoming apparent that marketing wasn’t going to be a lifetime career.

And again, I paid dearly for it.

The projects extended way past deadlines, created enormous issues with my team, business friendships were broken, and it cost me lots of $$$.

By early 2021, I was wrapping up the final projects within my marketing agency and had surrendered to my Guides who told me that I was supposed to be a spiritual guide.

I didn’t fully understand what that meant and still don’t, but one of the ways I was to execute this was by reading the Akashic Records for others.

Whether or not you know anything about my story, suffice it to say, it wasn’t the road I wanted to take. Marketing had felt real in a world that I had always been trying to fit into. And spiritual work, well, I didn’t know what to do with that — regardless of how spiritual of a person I had always been.

But I decided to have faith and give it a shot.

In the summer of 2021, my intuition waved the caution flag for the first time with an Akashic Record client. She had booked online and when I saw the booking come through, everything inside of me knew there would be an issue. But I had just started a business, needed the income, and wanted to make it work.

I won’t get into details but we were unable to communicate clearly, and therefore, it was a mess. Thankfully, we hugged it out the next time I saw her.

Yet clearly I still hadn’t learned my lesson.

So when I had another client in January get confused about the payment system for my readings (when it’s clear on my website) and want a refund, I should have done so immediately.

My intuition told me it would be a mistake to work with her. But no — I let my ego dive in and try to “fix” the issue. “I can handle this better than the last time!”, I pridefully told myself.

She agreed to move forward and when we met for the reading a few weeks later, all hell broke loose.

Again, I won’t go into details, but I actually got kicked out of the Akashic Records because they did NOT approve of the energetic alignment between the client and me.

And I had to immediately shut down the reading and offer her a refund, which resulted in an awful discussion that left both of us very upset.

Regardless of any role the client might have played — I knew it was my fault because I hadn’t listened to my intuition. And we both paid the price.

It seems ridiculous to me now that I didn’t set the same intention when I started my second or third business as it would have saved me a lot of trouble.

And it’s even more ridiculous that it cost me so much money and heartache to learn to listen to my intuition.

But I hope you’re smarter than me. And I hope you use my errors as examples of what not to do, whether dealing with business or personal things in life.

Our intuition will never guide us incorrectly IF we slow down enough to listen to it.

Mark my words — I’m listening now.
