Roe v. Wade Fell To Build Something Better

This is not some love and light bullshit

As the news about Roe v. Wade floods the news, I want to encourage you to honor yourself, honor your feelings, and honor where you’re at.

This is definitely upsetting news and hopefully, you understand this is so much greater than abortion and affects so many more than those who identify as female. It’s a big deal…

And we need to honor that. Honor our emotions and our feelings. And give ourselves the space and the room to go hit a boxing bag, to scream, to yell, to be sad, to grieve — whatever the case may be.

But also to remember that structures are falling now so that they can be rebuilt. And while this is really tough and upsetting, it is not forever. It can be changed, bettered, improved.

I invite you— after honoring your emotions — to try and come back into that space of hope. Because there are millions of reasons for us to have hope. I believe in humanity. I believe in the growth that is taking place. I see it in each and every one of you, more and more everyday. Whether it’s the clients I work with, the people I communicate with, those I interact with on the street — we are changing, we are growing.

And it’s awkward, it’s ugly and messy, and it’s going to get worse, okay. I’m not going to lie. I’m not here to be all love and light about this shit because it’s not.

But I want to remind you that we’re gonna get through it.

In the meantime, do what you gotta do. Feel what you gotta feel.

And do your very, very best to try and not point fingers, blame, judge and ridicule, and further divide ourselves.

Whether or not you are for or against Wade does not matter at this point. And when we get caught up in those details, we lose sight of what is important, which is coming together. Which is understanding that we are all One. We must refuse to divide ourselves.

We have to — both sides — come together and create a new solution. Meet in that middle space. Use our beautiful minds to develop something better.

Roe v. Wade fell because there is something better for us coming and I believe that with all my heart.

Sending love.
