Love and Hate (A Poem)

Some say the world revolves around love,

Others say hate.

Because of all I have been full of

I would have to believe that it is love.

But if I drew you a picture of my heart,

You could see my scars from hate,

Black and blue, tender and tart,

Heavy in weight

Sadness in part.

(Written in a 2006 Poetry class in the style of Robert Frost’s Fire & Ice)
