I’ve gone through burnout a few times over the past decade and am in the midst of my worst one yet. Yes, time is the only cure—time away, a total break. But that’s not always easy or doable when you work for yourself. Still, it’s a must otherwise the body will break down and get extremely sick.
I’m taking this one seriously, going through my activities/work with a fine-tooth comb, and in the midst of reorganizing my entire schedule. I’ll also be building in 1-2 days off every 30 days, a week off every quarter, and at least one 2-week vacation moving forward. And even more, building in regular check-ins on my schedule, how it feels, how I feel, etc.
For me, it’s a struggle because I love what I do so much, but I’ve got to find that balance.
