I do understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t think it’s a real solution because as this article (and others) states, over 80% of Ukrainians aren’t interested in that. It’s not about me being bull-headed, I’m simply saying—it’s their country, they choose.
And in regards to finding solutions, I’m in no position to put forth ideas because what I know about this conflict is what I’ve read—I’m not there and don’t have true access to the reality of the situation.
But I do think the western world needs to truly step up and help them end it. The sanctions and whatnot haven’t truly made a difference yet—all one needs to do is read something by a Russian native to know that.
Either way, I just think it’s hugely disrespectful to tell a country what they should do while standing safely on the sidelines. Their decisions may not make any sense to the outside world AND that should be okay. They’re the ones losing everything right now—not us.
It’s a horrific situation and my heart goes out to everyone involved. I wish I had solutions, but in the meantime, I donate, wish them wisdom and safety for their loved ones, and pray it’s over soon.
